Manuk Rawa Dance


Manuk Rawa dance is masterpiece result from Mr. I Wayan Dibia (a choreographer) and I Wayan Beratha ( a composer) in 1981. This Manuk Rawa dance is new creation dance which taken from wana parwa’s story from epos Mahabharata. Manuk Rawa mean is , manuk mean is bird and rawa mean is water. This dance describe a group of bird which usual living in the water which their act seems like bathing, looking for food in the water until flying from one position to another position.

As well as other animal dance, this Manuk Rawa dance wearing a dress appropriate with its theme. Both of hand which cover by its wing which have never been discharged, their food wearing short pants just until knees. Head ornaments on head which wearing gelungan (hat) which look like bird bill, also other attribute seems like attribute of a dancer which full of color so its nice to see. This dance which usually danced by 5 until 7 persons have a composition of dance is different each other, so made this dance more energetic and become an interest entertainment.
